The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) is one of the largest organizations in America for any given profession. Their annual convention draws SLPs from across the country, with crowds routinely exceeding 10,000 people–and this year was no different.
The team landed in Boston on Wednesday. The day’s agenda consisted of arriving at the conference center, setting up our booth, and catching up on emails. The fun wasn’t set to begin until Thursday.
We can’t exaggerate the size of the ASHA conference. This makes it incredibly easy to go unnoticed. So in these types of situations, one must do something to stand out. Our solution to this was a little game we like to call Beantown Bingo.
Beantown Bingo is kind of like regular bingo but with one big exception: instead of trying to create a line of by matching numbers and letters, players need to create a line using the cute icons that Michelle, our designer extraordinaire, created.
We drew the icons from a hat one by one, and the first player to complete a line won! The prize? A $100 Visa gift card.
When we weren’t in the exhibit hall, we were exploring Boston and dining on some delicious grub. Boston is fantastic for seafood lovers, and one of our favourite meals was the one we had at Legal Sea Foods.
All said, we had a great time catching up with current clients, and playing Beantown Bingo with new friends. We’re really looking forward to making another appearance at the 2019 ASHA Conference in Orlando.
